Community Organizer Location: Central Illinois (downstate) Position: Full-time Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 depending on organizing experience. Full health and dental insurance, home office stipend, and generous paid time‑off. Job Summary: At Illinois People’s Action (IPA), we organize to make sure downstate Illinois has a say in matters of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. As a Community Organizer you will talk one‑on‑one with everyday people, listen to what matters to them, and help train grassroots and faith leaders to step up and lead the fight for change, focusing on climate and environmental justice. What You’ll Do Get out there—meet and build relationships with grassroots and faith leaders in both urban and rural downstate Illinois. Support IPA efforts for climate justice, always keeping racial equity front and center. Train local leaders on how to organize and make their voices heard. Team up with others on our regional environmental justice campaigns. Work together with partners across Illinois and nationwide. Join regular staff meetings and check‑ins. Pitch in on basic admin—like reports and timesheets—when needed. You’ll work with your supervisor and team to develop smart strategies and tactics to make change happen. You need to live in central or downstate Illinois (we’re based in Bloomington and organize across the region), be able to travel within central Illinois and occasionally to Chicago or the Capitol in Springfield, and work from home when not out in the field. #J-18808-Ljbffr Illinois People's Action
